Hawkfire sat down and began grooming himself. The deputy usually didn't relax in the camp, he was always busy doing something; but today was an exception. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and apparently, pleanty of warriors had already gone out to catch those birds to fill the fresh-kill pile. Everyone was fed, and all the patrols had been organized. Hawkfire sat down to rest. He wasn't going to sleep, of course, but he really needed to get a thorn out of his side, literally. A thorn was sticking him, thanks to an inccedent where a mouse decided to scurry under a thornbush, and he'd foolishly not seen it. So he began the task of trying to find all the thorns, and remove them.

Nettlestar walked by lazily, as she had just eaten.
It really is a nice time when even the leader gets all they want from the fresh-kill pile....hmm, I wonder what Hawkfire is doing....
"Hello Hawkfire. Are you doing any thing interesting?"

Hawkfire looked up to see Nettlestar, his leader. "Oh, greetings Nettlestar. Nothing interesting right now. I'm just trying to find all these thorns in my fur." He said, pulling one out, with more than a little effort. "So, nice weather we're having, eh?" he meowed.

Nettlestar narrowed her eyes into slits.
"Alright, what's going on? When cats start talking about weather, it's either because they are mocking me, hiding something, or they have a crush a cat nearby. Since I know you wouldn't mock me, and there's no pretty she-cat around, you have to be hiding something. What is it?" she meowed, stepping closer with each word.

Now it was Hawkfire's eyes that turned into slits- only these were out of annoyance. "Nettlestar, I'd never hide anything from you, and you know it. I'm not that kind of cat." Looking up at the sky, he meowed, "Besides- it is a nice day."

Nettlestar shook her head, amused.
"You are the only cat who can get away with saying that you know?"
OOC - Okay, this is boring...should I change it so that Nettle starts interigating him? Oh, and what are the poems in your siggies? I can't read them...

OOC: The poems say (for Hawky)- If it rusts, it should never be trusted. If it's owner fails to control it, it will cut him. Yes, pride is- like a blade. And Snake's is- Yes, there is no fate for us. Only those who are swallowed by ignorance and fear and miss a step, fall into the rapid river called fate.
Finally getting all of the thorns out, he looked up at Nettlestar, and meowed, "If you really want to know- I don't quite like this period of peace."

Nettlestar blinked in surprise.
"Why not?" she asked, curious. As far as Nettlestar could see, peace was a good thing.

Hawkfire sighed, and stared into space. "Its just that calm before the storm thing... I mean, don't you think things are a little too easy? We're slacking on border patrols, and when a cat does cross the border- everyone just shrugs it off. Sooner or later- someone's gonna take advantage of it; I garrentee it."

Nettlestar sighed.
"I know that...I just don't like taking such a dark view of things. But isn't it possible the 'storm' will come after we're with StarClan? After all, there has been peace ever since the oldest cat in the Clan was born. Why would it be destroyed now?" she asked.

"Fate has a cruel sense of humor- that's all I can say." Hawkfire meowed in response. "Besides, to tell you the truth- I'd rather face it now than crane our necks anticipating it."

"I just hope nothing happens at all. To tell you the truth, Hawkfire, I want to have a peaceful, boring time as leader of ThunderClan, just like Brightstar and Rainstar before me. And if something does have to happen, I'd like to have a bit more exspearence on my side." Nettlestar meowed, her tail flicking from side to side worriedly.

Hawkfire nodded, "If something does happen, you know that I'll be right at your side. Besides, its nothing really to worry much about."

Nettlestar smiled and let her worry fall away. After all, what was the worse that could happen?
"You're right. You're always right. Why is that?" she asked, her voice slipping into a playful tone.

Hawkfire leaned back, relaxing. "I don't know. Maybe its just me- maybe its just you." Hawkfire stared up at the sky, a meaningful look on his muzzle. "Hey, Nettlestar- you ever wish you were a cloud?" He meowed randomly.
